About

I’m Helen Wright-Grover, the founder of the Drawing and Talking practice Hold the Space.
I provide safe space, drawing and talking sessions for children and teenagers who might be learning to understand an Autism or ADHD diagnosis, or who are experiencing social and emotional anxiety in, or out of school.
As an advanced trained, independent practitioner, I’m a member of the Drawing and Talking Practitioner Programme, who support my practice development and knowledge. They have over 20 years of experience in this field.
It’s my passion to work with children to help them understand their emotions and work towards improved behaviours. This non-intrusive, therapeutic technique can help to alleviate anxiety and stress, contributing to a happier life for your child.
Skills
& Expertise
I specialise in working with children aged 7-18 with Autism, ADHD and social and emotional anxiety, offering private or in-school sessions, depending on what works best for each child. I also currently tutor children 1:1 who are unable to access school due to Autism, ADHD, SEMH or social and emotional anxiety.

Drawing & Talking is a gentle, non-intrusive, very effective self-healing therapy which works well with people who struggle to verbalise their feelings and emotions. I Hold the Space for the clients over 12 weeks, build a healthy attachment and support them through their journey.
They talk or draw, whatever they feel in a safe space each working through the 3 stages - initial, middle and resolution. It is a more gentle precursor to CBT therapy.

Previously, I worked for 8 years as a Teaching Assistant in private special education schools, and with the SEND in both mainstream junior and secondary schools, offering 1:1 educational support & teaching illustration and talking sessions, and Drawing & Talking interventions.

I am also trained and qualified in Art Therapy, Sand play, Drawing & Talking Group work, Autism, ADHD and Children & Young People's Mental Health, Safeguarding, GDPR, Child Protection
and DBS checked.
